The Friends of India [FOI] organization is entering the digital
age with its first website. We decided it was time to move into the computer
age or forever be left behind! As the new president of Friends of India, I am
especially pleased to be a part of this process.
I would like to extend my appreciation to our former president, Ed Willett, who
has done an outstanding job over the last several years. We wish him and his
family all the best in Uzbekistan, where Ed is now assigned as the Peace Corps
Country Director. |

I would also
like to share a little of my background with you. As some of you may know, my
wife and I were India III Volunteers from 1963-66, and then I joined the staff
in Bangalore from 1966-68. Subsequently, I helped with the training of several
India groups, including some of the last ones that served in India. I always
found India to be as exhilarating as it was challenging and, without a doubt,
these experiences helped to shape both my life and that of my family.
In closing, please take a look at this new website, which is in the initial
phase of development and let us know what features you feel are important to
include. You may want to think about our goals and our vision of the future,
how we might involve our children, our counterparts in India, their children
and others. Also, consider avenues to support the three FOI goals (below) and
how we might share our wealth of experience in imaginative ways. I look forward
to working with all of you as we spread our wings with the development of this
website.
