This year is the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Peace Corps.
In August 2006 it will be two years since we launched the www.FOIndia.org website.
As of today, June 10, 2006, the number of individuals that have contacted our site
is 24,885, of which 22,497 are new visitors. More and more former India Peace Corps
Volunteers and Friends of India have registered to partake in the free services
offered in the Members Center. I believe we have an excellent site and once again
request all of you to submit items on India that you think others would find
interesting. Please consider a wide range of topics: books, art, personal stories,
current events, travel, etc. Please send these to FOIndiaSlattery@aol.com.

We can include items fairly quickly on the website. New material is important as
there is nothing worse than a stale website. Help us keep ours dynamic.
George Nepert, FOI Treasurer, reported an increase in paid memberships and
charitable contributions. Perhaps the website has contributed to this trend.
In any case we hope it will continue. In this regard, the Board thanks our
Webmaster, John Kuberka, for designing, establishing and maintaining a website
that is easy to navigate and that responds to the interests of the Friends of India.
Finally, if you are in a writing mood about your PCV experience, read the ad quoted below
that will be coming out in July/August 2006 issue of Poets & Writers magazine:
Peace Corps stories and essays are wanted for the travel anthology "Americans Do Their Business
Abroad: The Peace Corps Latrine Reader," edited by Steve McNutt and Jake Fawson. Think:
humorous and harrowing tales of self-deprecation and disasters. Above all, think, funny.
Proceeds to charity.
Deadline: September 15, 2006.
Complete guidelines at:
