Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this email to inquire if it is possible for me to track the whereabouts of a Peace
Corp volunteer that had befriended my father in India way back in 1969-1970 time frame. This is
my father's first visit to the United States ever and he would like to say hello to his old friend
if possible. The volunteer's name was Henry Frederick Tyson and my father believes that he was
either from California or Florida.
I would greatly appreciate if you could help me out to track Mr. Tyson's present address/phone
number or email, in case it is available from your records.
Thanks in anticipation,
-Himanshu Rai (hrai1@yahoo.com)

From September 2007
Reunion: Request to find India PCVs who worked in smallpox eradication
Below is an email from David Sensor of CDC:
PCVs were active in many countries in the program to eradicate
smallpox. A group of us who were with CDC are planning a reunion of
people who worked in the smallpox eradication programs of India,
Bangladesh and East Africa for next July 11-12 in Atlanta. Any help
you can provide in locating any PCVs who helped in those programs
would be appreciated.
Last summer we had a reunion for those who worked in West Africa and
it was a great success. In addition to much fun and renewed
acquaintances we obtained oral histories, a great collection of
pictures and a seminar highlighting the contribution to health that
the smallpox program had made.
Thank you for any assistance,
David. J. Sencer, MD, MPH , Atlanta, GA (djud@mindspring.com)
You can also respond to Suzanne Marks, MPH, MA (sqm3@CDC.GOV) who sent a similar email requesting this information.

!!!! FOUND !!!!
John,
You can delete the Looking for Mr. Dave Elliott part of the FOI
website, that I copied below, as I got him in touch with the mother Seetha
Kumari, as you can see from Dave's response below to me. I didn't have Dave's
email--he's missed all of our India 4's reunions--but Bob Holmes in our group
had it and so the website worked well.
Best,
Peter Ross, India 4

Dear Sir,
I am a physician from India residing in the USA since 1970 and now I am semiretired and live in Hampton,VA.
My neice DEEPA RAMESH and her husband BEN EAST were in Malawi,Africa as Peace Corp workers in the late 1990s where they met for the first time and became friends and were married over two years ago.Peace corp can take the credit for making a good match.
Anyway,I have been observing peace corp activity since President Kennedy started it. In 1965-66 I was a new physician at GWALIOR,MADHYA PRADESH,INDIA and was working at a Family Planning Clinic in Gwalior.A young caucasian in his mid twenties [I cannot recall his name, possibly a native of Wisconsin,USA.] came to meet me as a peace corp volunteer to help me with family planning. His knowledge about family planning was limited but as he tagged along with me in my family planning work, his knowledge improved and I am sure he was able to do some beneficial work during his stay in India.
We even took a short vacation to KHAJURAHO TEMPLES in MADHAYA PRADESH,INDIA which was memorable to both of us.He was in close touch with me for a few weeks in Gwalior as we worked in the family planning clinic in the evenings and then he drifted away somewhere in his peace corp work.
I have lost touch since then, though neither of us has tried to locate each other since. Now I am interested in getting in touch with him after all these years.
I hope you can help me track him down so I can get in touch with him in USA or elsewhere as we are both in our 60s and able to recall the years past..Your Peace Corp archives should be able to find him.Thankyou for your kind efforts.I shall wait for your reply with anticipation.
sicerely,
JAI K.RANGAPPA M.D.

I was in India 1971-1972 with the animal husbandry project in Haryana, India.
A fellow peace corps member was named David Rummel.
Do you have any information on him or this group? It was I-130.
Thanks,
